El alto funcionario palestino y miembro de Fatah e integrante del Comité Central, Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, acogió con satisfacción el creciente apoyo público expresado por varios países en el período previo a la votación histórica de Palestina en la Asamblea General de la ONU de cara al próximo jueves 29 de noviembre.
“El jueves, los países tienen la opción de votar por la paz y la justicia o votar por la impunidad, para dar luz verde a la libertad o la luz verde para el apartheid, decir sí a la solución de dos estados o sí a la expansionista e ilegales políticas del gobierno israelí”, continuó sosteniendo que “el voto para Palestina en la ONU es una oportunidad para los países que están en el lado correcto de la historia. Estamos encantados de ver una clara mayoría prestando su apoyo a la senda de la justicia”.
En el anuncio de Francia de apoyar con su voto a Palestina, el Dr. Shtayyeh dijo: “Este anuncio demuestra el compromiso de Francia a los derechos humanos, a la democracia, y, finalmente, que refleja la voluntad de la mayoría de los franceses, que apoyan la búsqueda de Palestina por la libertad y el derecho a la autodeterminación. Estamos muy agradecidos a Francia y hacemos un llamamiento a otros gobiernos europeos para anunciar su apoyo a la libertad palestina. Como desde hace mucho tiempo”.

“We are delighted to see a clear majority lending their support to the path of justice”
Senior Palestinian official and Fatah Central Committee member Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh welcomed the increasing public support expressed by several countries in the lead up to the historic vote for Palestine at the UN General Assembly this Thursday, November 29.
“On Thursday, countries have the option to vote for peace and justice or to vote for impunity; to give a green light for freedom or a green light for apartheid; to say yes to the two-state solution or yes to the expansionist and illegal policies of the Israeli government.” He continued “Voting for Palestine at the UN is an opportunity for countries to stand on the right side of history. We are delighted to see a clear majority lending their support to the path of justice.”
On the announcement made by France to support Palestine’s vote, Dr. Shtayyeh said: “This announcement illustrates France’s commitment to democracy human rights, and reflecting the will of the majority of French people, who support Palestine’s quest for freedom and right to self determination. We are very thankful to France and we call upon other European governments to announce their support for Palestinian freedom. This is long overdue.”
