“Palestina dice adiós a un leal amigo que apasionadamente defendió nuestro derecho a la libertad y libre determinación. Su contribución a la causa de la dignidad no tuvo fronteras llegando a los corazones y mentes del Mundo Árabe,” dijo Shaath.
“El Presidente Chávez expreso su solidaridad con pasos políticos tangibles en orden de avanzar los derechos del pueblo palestino. El será particularmente recordado por su determinación en tomar una posición fuerte durante la agresión de 2008/09 en contra de Gaza así como por su fuerte apoyo al reconocimiento a Palestina por parte de Naciones Unidas en 2011.”
Dr. Shaath concluyó: “Hoy recordamos las palabras de Simon Bolívar ‘deseo ver a America (Latina) convertida en la nación más grande del mundo, la más grande no en cuanto a su extensión geográfica o riqueza, sino que por su libertad y gloria.’ El Presidente Chávez trabajo sin parar, no solo por la libertad y gloria de su amada America Latina, sino que por todos los pueblos oprimidos, incluyendo a Palestina, un país que llevo en su Corazón.”
“Una vez más, Palestina dice ‘Gloria al bravo pueblo’, viva Venezuela y viva Palestina.”

Dr. Nabeel Shaath sends his condolences on the death of President Chavez:
“Palestine says goodbye to a loyal friend who passionately defended our right to freedom and self determination”
Fatah Foreign Relations Commissioner Dr. Nabeel Shaath expressed Palestine’s deepest condolences to the family of President Hugo Chavez, as well as to the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
“Palestine says goodbye to a loyal friend who passionately defended our right to freedom and self-determination. His contribution to the cause of dignity had no borders and reached the hearts and minds of the Arab World,” said Dr. Shaath.
“President Chavez expressed his solidarity with tangible political steps in order to advance the rights of the Palestinian people. He will be particularly remembered for his determination to take a strong position during the 2008/09 aggression against Gaza and for strongly supporting Palestine’s bid for recognition at the UN during 2011.”
Dr. Shaath concluded: “Today we remember the words of Simon Bolivar: ‘I desire to see (Latin) America fashioned into the greatest nation in the world, greatest not so much by virtue of her area and wealth as by her freedom and glory.’ President Chavez worked tirelessly, not only for freedom and glory for his beloved Latin America, but for all oppressed peoples, including Palestine, a country he kept in his heart.”
